Ouch. This one hurts. For those of you who don't know yet, I am too big a sports fan for my own good, and being from Mass, I am a homer. Last night the Patriots dynasty came to an end in the great American city of Indianapolis. (It actually could be an awful American city, I don't know, I've never been there, and I don't want to go either. Take that Peyton.) The game was unbelievable. I still can't believe we lost. (yeah, I know I didn't play, get over it). I can't believe we blew an 18 point lead. I can't believe we couldn't get 1 first down at the end of the game. I can't believe we can't count to 11, and send 12 GUYS IN THE HUDDLE!! I can't believe Caldwell dropped 2 gimme passes. That drives me nuts more than anything. I know I can't make a catch over the middle, holding onto the ball after getting drilled by a 220lb human missle, but I know I can catch a football with no one within 20 yards of me, and it's not even my profession. His job description is as follows: CATCH THE BALL, and he couldn't do it. He's the first Patriot player to flat-out choke in the last 6 years.

Oh well. Last night was the Super Bowl. Indy will smoke Chicago and Rex the Terrible in Miami. Congrats to Manning for avoiding Marinoitis, and for ending the debate everywhere outside of New England about which QB would you rather have. He was awesome, especially if his thumb was really banged up.

Now it's time for the Pats to get some weapons, both on D and Offense. They need playmakers. I hate to say it, but Bruschi got really old the last 4 months, and he it seemed like he didn't make 1 play down the stretch. They need faster, younger linebackers (Briggs anyone???) and they need a Deion Branch. They need a go-to WR. Not a prima-donna #1, but a go to guy who has and will make the tough catch when it needs to be made. They had 3 of those guys before (DB, Givens and Brown). They need to take advantage of these 2 #1 picks this year and get faster and better at those key positions.

At least this means that we are now that much closer to Spring. Pitchers and Catchers report soon, and I can't wait...
